New at building AR's, so be patient.

I have lower parts and a couple stripped lowers (1 is NFA poly).

I wanted to take a run at building a really lightweight, low budget AR, starting with the NFA lower.

A friend has a DPMS Sportical complete upper with light contour barrel. I can pick it up cheap (around $300).

Is that upper good enough for range plinking?

    Any other suggestions are welcomed.

For range plinking, yeah it's a good price and should fit the bill.

For anything else, I'd go a diff't route personally.

Buy it and use it. Nothing wrong with that for a lightweight setup. I have a poly upper...I barely feel a difference in weight vs a forged upper.
