Since I have come to the conclusion that my beloved Hi Power and P225 are too big for warm weather CCW carry, I am looking for recommendations for a smaller gun.

    My criteria:

    1. 9mm
    2. Single Stack
    3. Hammer Fired, either SA or DA/SA. Must have a hammer spur
    4. Compact (think PPK/Beretta 70/ Colt Officer's Model size.)

I know I'm probably looking for a small 1911 style compact.

    Suggestions?

I CC a SIG P938 (9mm). It's not cheap, but I shoot it as well as my 'fuller sized' SIG P228. It works for me. It doesn't work for my wife who loves her Glock 17L and Ruger LCP. She never practices and she is so spot on accurate it's crazy. I can't shoot her guns like I shoot my guns. Pick what works for you.

Your criteria is actually pretty tough, very few good small single stack 9mm's, hammer fired with a hammer spur. Off the top of my head, best are both Sigs, P239 and P938. Also see P232.

Add to the list the Springfield EMP, if you care to go 1911-ish . For a blast from the past, the Firestar.

But if we take your explicit criteria, and the implied criteria of being meaningfully smaller and lighter than your present P225 , it narrows to the P938 .

    Also see P232.

P232 would be my choice if I was willing to go to .380 (and is on my want list.) I have a Beretta 70 that I love but finding mags for it has been problematic. Also have a Colt 1908 that I love shooting but (1) Those old school sights are tiny and (2) it's an 80 year old gun. But we were talking 9mm, anyway.

While that Dan Wesson is undoubtedly a fine gun , it is larger/ heavier than the OP's P225 , and he's looking for smaller & lighter than that.
