How many flashlights do you really need?

I have flashlights in my bug out bag, drawers, backpacks, basement, cars...I think I have 6 working ones and 2 that need batteries changed out.

I was out shopping today and ended up buying another two (medium size and one almost as long as a night stick). So, that totals to 10.

I use them when I hike, walk the dog, check the sump pump...

Do I have too many flashlights? How many flashlights do you think you need?

This. Then get twice as many.

Off the top of my head. An Ozark headlamp (has a really bright red LED light. That seems to be lacking on most, even hunting focused, head lamps. Most are 1-2lm. It is 10) and a generic hockey puck LED lamp from Amazon/China in my hunting pack. Both USB rechargeable. The hockey puck is for getting a deer and field dressing to hang it while I wear my head lamp.

I’ve got the same Ozark headlamp plus 4 cheap ones in my camping gear. Two Stream light 3xAA LED lanterns and their siege DD LED lantern in my camping gear. Oh, and in Olight lantern in there too.

A couple Black Diamond AAA camping lanterns in the emergency drawer in the kitchen with about a dozen chem sticks.

I’ve got three or four Olight USB recharge or keychain lights laying around and one on my keys. One of their AAA LED lights in my office desk drawer and one on my reloading bench. A 2xC battery LED Magkite by the garage side door and the basement exterior door mounted to the wall.

I’ve got LED 2xAA Maglite in the glove box of both cars. A CR123/AA stream light in my change tray where I keep my wallet and keys next to my bed.

I’ve got a couple Olight minis, one on my Glock 17 in my bedside drawer. One on my G21 in my safe. I’ve got a stream light CR123 mini light mounted as a weapon light on my AR-15 in my safe. A 3xDD LED Maglite around here somewhere.

Those are just what I can remember. A few crappy/cheap LED flashlights that the kids have.

*edit* forgot to mention I’ve got a generic single AA LED lantern/flash light combo in my bug out bag with some spare rechargeable AAs and a 5w folding solar panel and two battery charger plus a 2800ma lipstick lithium ion power pack and a couple USB cables (mini and lightning). I really should get a decent headlamp or AA flashlight to throw in there also.

Got a couple of various length Maglites and even a couple of my old GI flashlights. Like to keep one in the bedroom, kitchen, laundry room. Also a few lanterns. Only problem is remembering to rotate out the old batteries and stock up on new ones beforehand.

Make sure the flashlights are LED. That is all I use now. Nice and bright not like the old technology.

Many.

I would say the coolest ones I picked up? Lithium and plugged in 24/7 like a night lite that isn't on. When power fails? They light up and boom you are gold for 12 hours.
Yes, my generator is a manual switch over.

It sounds like the ones that you can buy that are compatible with the cordless rechargeable drill/tools. I have dewalt and milwaukee and I think I can buy a compatible light that works with the same lithium batteries. You are right, they stay charged and when you need them, they will be good for hours.

Great idea. I think I'll go shopping again. Since everyone here says you always need one more
