    Its comin right for me!

I sorta just got on a lever gun kick. Years ago I put this in my jeep as a backup gun on a hunting trip and the rear sight drifted off somehow and got lost. I never bothered replacing it and it sat in my safe unused for a while. I was shooting my 30-06 and decided I was done beating up my shoulder and wanted a different hunting gun that was more pleasant to shoot regularly with. I removed the sights and scoped it with a Leupold 2-7x33 VX-1 on a DNZ mount.

I havent even zeroed it yet or taken it in the woods. Ill let you know after this weekend probably. The two things I wanted was for it to mount the scope as closely to the bore as possible and for it to be rock solid since the irons were removed. Its three pieces plus screws and its pretty thick so I cant imagine it getting knocked around. It's actually a medium height because thats the lowest they had, but it seems plenty low to me. Feels comfortable. I guess the test will be when I zero it and shoot it a little bit, but I dont see me being disappointed.

Want me to take a less fuzzy close up picture of the mount/receiver/scope so you can get a better view?

No that's OK. Thanks though! I've seen them online and in stores in person just hadn't looked for it on the gun. It looks pretty beefy to me! Agree on the height, looks just about perfect. Let me know how you like it!

The Savage was lettered as a 1937 manufacture, but it may have been restocked by Savage later. EGs at that time were not checkered.

1979 Marlin .444s. Pre-safety and in damn good condition. Got it for $225 at a show a couple years ago.

1954 Marlin 336RC. Got this gem from Shooters Discount as a birthday gift for myself this past summer. I don't want to use the word "mint" when describing it, but it's damn near close.

My Great-Great Grandfather's Savage M1899 in 38-55 Winchester. Manufactured in 1905-06. He had gotten it brand new when he owned a hardware store at the time. This rifle has been in my family for almost 110 years and has taken countless amounts of deer and bear. I hope to take a deer with it myself one day.

Ahhh, this thread is killing me!

Already was looking at some Rossi models (in 45 LC), and a Taylor (in 44 mag), and older Marlins, and the Henry Evil Roy, as well as some more Winchesters (particularly old ones). But now I want a Savage Model 99! Beautiful firearm that was ahead of its time, and all the cool kids have one.

My turn. First lever I purchased, a little less than 2 years back, for my older boy, who was 10 years old at the time, a Browning BL-22, made in Japan. It's got a short throw as you can see in the picture. Accurate and fun gun. :D

Belgian made Browning BLR .308 sporting a 2.5-10x 42mm Nikon Monarch. Nice lightweight set-up. The bluing looks great in sunlight. :cool16:

Japanese made Winchester 1873 short rifle in .357 magnum. It's a gorgeous gun in natural light.

Japanese made Winchester 1892 carbine in .357 magnum with a saddle ring. Could do without the tang safety. This rifle points and shoots so naturally. Recoil is just a bit more than the Browning BL-22. If ammo and time were unlimited, I would want to shoot it all day.

Winchester Model 94 carbine in 30-30 built in Connecticut in 1979. Recently picked up, and haven't had a chance to shoot yet. Was bothered that i didn't have a made-in-the-U.S. lever, and decided to start with a classic line. Although the pics don't show it, great wood on this rifle and nice overall craftsmanship. I think the post-1963 Model 94s, especially after they rectified some of the initial cost-cutting compromises, are undervalued/underappreciated.
