Hogan has a choice of whether to sign , not sign or veto bills brought to his desk. if he signs any anti gun bill he is selling OUR rights for votes. unless he signs them and really is anti gun which would mean he agrees with the bills. the only way he would be supporting our rights would be to veto any such anti 2a legislation and explain why.

many times in my life I have been between a rock and a hard place. I have been asked to lie and to cheat for money. my lawyer told me once that all I had to do was lie and someone who was suing me would have to pay me. in every case I chose to do the right thing. to tell the truth, to stand up for what I believe in, not to hurt others just to save some money. lifes a hard road. and when its over all a man has to take to his grave is his reputation. I wont tarnish mine and I expect the same from others. so if Hogan wants votes from folks like me and from the hard right he has to stand up and do the right thing, unless of coarse he agrees with the antis and he is doing what he thinks is right.

and yep, dems play hardball. Hogan should veto every bill they send him, they cant over ride his veto for another session anyway so at least he would get his way for a little while.

I didn't know that! I just thought it would go back to the MGA right away. That shows why I'm not worthy of Pres of MSI

ETA: ...and then I saw this...

For what its worth the legislature can pass and send bills to the Governor before the end of the session and he has 6 days to sign or veto, if he vetoes the legislature can over ride before end of session, look for them to do that again this year, it was a little used rule until we had a republican Governor, basically there is nothing Hogan can do if the legislature rushes the bills through.

Copied this from an article about last year,

This is the second consecutive year that the General Assembly has sent bills to the governor before the end of the 90-day legislative session.

Lawmakers are taking advantage of a little-used provision in the state constitution, which says bills sent to the governor at least six days before the end of session must either be signed or vetoed, giving the legislature time to override any vetoes before it adjourns

and I didn't know the second quote, it seems the dems can figure out a way of screwing us faster than we can figure out how to get ahead of them.

and your fine, obviously no one knows everything, especially in politics

Unless they pass the bill with time for Hogan to either sign it or veto it before the session ends, at which point they can override his veto. If they pass the bill and Hogan vetoes the bill after the session is over, they CANNOT override his veto next year per The Maryland State Constitution. (A veto made in the last year of a an election cycle, may not be overriden in the first year of a new election cycle).

Yes, so I have been told in the last few posts, like I said above no one can know everything

what happens if they send it in time and he neither signs nor vetoes? Does it become law anyway?

Yes, if he does not sign or veto in 6 days it becomes law, basically as I've stated before with the current make up of the Legislature Hogan has no power to do anything. If he vetoes they will over ride it immediately and it will become law anyways.

Hey, its okay. Federal system as soon as the president vetoes the house and senate can vote to override the veto. Course that still normally takes a few days of procedural stuff per house and senate rules.

Not voting for Hogan because you're throwing a tantrum and turning this state over to CommieNutz or Baker to ruin for a generation through redistricting in 2020 and leaving your kids with even more of a Socialist utopia doesn't sound very moral to me. YMMV.

Pretty much. I'd rather he do nothing and be SORT of on our side than do everything in his power to make sure we're boned until the end of time. And there's literally no ifs ands or buts about it, we have no better choices.

Getting a little worried here ....everyone is positioning for a ban on"assault" weapons and Maryland is primed for banning 10+ Rd magazines.

Nope, nothing to see here. Go about your normal business. From what I saw in the SB1062 video, it appeared that Bill was DOA as written. HB991 will need a lot of rewording to even have a chance. But I honestly think threat the fine folks who spoke the Senate committee effectively shut down any and all chances of these Bills passing as written.

I see no way that the Republicans will turn their backs on the 2A. The MSM is reporting false stories and it would seem that many are falling for them.

Because if mags >10 rounds are banned and possession outlawed, 10 round mags can be scalped for a small fortune, since demand will far outrun supply.

Anyway, that's my guess. It may just be a case of getting some before the rush, of course.
