Now you need a double Buscadero holster rig and you are set.

    No. Go old school authentic.

Very Nice. I see the sale is back on. I'm having trouble deciding on the 8" or 5.5" barrel. Any opinions to steer me along?

Depends on what you want it for. If hunting deer in Maryland it has to have at least a 6" barrel. If you ever decide to join the NSSA, and shot at the competitions, it has to have the 8" barrel.

But, the 5 1/2" would be easier to carry, but it would have the velocity of the full length barrel.

    I'd go with 8":)

The originals had the longer barrels. It provides a better sight radius and higher velocity. More importantly, it will give you the feel of the authentic original.

The shorter barrel is not "authentic", although I'm sure some originals were cut down on a custom basis. I like the shorter barrel though as a practical option. Actually, I'd like a 3" barrel and round or bird's eye grips, as a sort of Bulldog or belly gun. Add a lowered hammer spur... very cool.

For your first 1858, I'd recommend sticking with the original. If you like it, you might want to add the 5 1/2" version later. But start with the authentic experience.

On the other hand, if you decide you'd rather go for the 5 1/2" version, I'd say go for it.

Threeband, a few weeks ago, I picked up a 58 that someone cut the barrel down to about 2 1/2". I need to square up there cut, and I'm going to round out the grips do frame, to make it a birds head grip. Looks like it will be fun doing this project, but I e been to busy to work on it. Hopefully I get some time soon.

That should make a neat belly gun. Snubnose .44s called British Bulldogs and American Bulldogs were very popular in the late 19th Century. Charter Arms marketed a .44 snubnose in the 1970s which they called the Bulldog. So what you've got is appropriately called a Bulldog.

Thanks guys. 8" it is. I might be a little interested in competition down the road. I'll request the 5.5 for my birthday, wife is always looking for shopping ideas. Ordering now.

Check with them for availability on the short barrel. I was told that it would be 17 weeks till any expected delivery.
