I just picked up a Ruger American Predator in 6.5CM for a steal. There are much better shooters than I taking these things stock (with good glass) and marching them out to 1,000 yards and beyond. Since I am not that good (and don't plan on shooting near that far), I decided to give myself a little help and replace the semi flimsy OEM stock. I have come up with a few options:

Boyds sells pre-made featherlight thumbhole stocks on ebay for $192.04 (biggest con is no adjustable LOP for when hunting with heavy clothing)

Boyds sells their AT One stock for $201.32

The MDT LSS-XL GenII Chassis is $499.00 (this is really at the very end of my budget - maybe a tad over)

Now, if I go with a Boyd's stock, I would need to get it pillar and glass bedded, so that adds another $200 (I would want a pro to do it) and the LSS stock requires me to buy a grip and buttstock, but no bedding required.

Or should I just wait until Magpul releases the Hunter stock sometime next year?

It's not the sexy answer , but shoot it with the oem stock for a while to get a handle on how it shoots, how the stock works for you , and what , if anything seems to be holding you back .

But, I wanted to know how my investments were doing compared to the DOW.

FWIW, if you ever want to do CMP matches you may want to consider stocks without thumbholes, and pistol grips, and consider the weight.

Nah....it's for hunting and occasional messing around to challenge myself. If I do any competing, it would be against friends for accuracy at the range.
