these are both really fun matches. similar to uspsa/idpa, you run around and shoot a bunch of targets, paper/steel mix for kahr, and all falling steel for supersteel.

while steel challenge is a really good entry into competitive shooting (and they have that also), these two are pretty good first events as well. decent handgun, holster, couple mag pouches (or just use back pockets), 3-4 mags. i am planning on doing am and pm for both matches and my offer stands, any newbies are welcome to squad with me and i'll show you the ropes.

buzzer beeps, you draw and run around and shoot everything, reloading mags as needed. your score is your time plus penalties for any misses.

the two big safety rules are keep your finger clearly and visibly outside the trigger guard unless you're actually on target (so, while reloading, moving, clearing a jam, etc), and keep your muzzle generally downrange (again including while reloading, clearing jams, moving, etc).

everyone should do a couple of matches for two reasons. one, it is a ton of fun. two, you get to see how you and your gun and gear work under just a little pressure, never know if you may need to use it in real life.

just a reminder. i'm doing kahr am and pm this saturday (6th). squad 6 & 12 if anyone wants to join me. if you're a newbie and want to have real fun vs a static range, i'm happy to help get you started. doubledoc is joining me for the pm match.

I, on the other hand, am doing Steel Challenge this Saturday (6th). I am shooting 2 guns per squad trying to get in as much shooting as possible to try and makeup for the eye surgery that screwed up most of my competing this year. Then shooting SC at Ontelaunee in PA on the 13th and SC again at Shadow Hawk on the 27th. I will likely be shooting Super Steel on the 20th also. I would shoot more action pistol like USPSA or Kahr except my knee repair rehab has not been as good as I could have made it (laziness probably).

yeah for some reason it isn't showing on my practiscore page. just go to match results and type in 'devil dog' and you'll see them there. they posted them same day as the match.
