Yeah I think you will be ok as long as it's not a rifle cartridge. They won't let you shoot an AR pistol because it shoots 556.

There are some holes in the one torso target on the right hand pistol range. This guy was shooting a mosin from the bench there. He got a talking too and the holes are still there.

Clarified - you MAY shoot rifle cartridges on the pistol ranges. As noted above, just NOT at the steel targets.

But why? Its 25' they have a 50yd berm right next door.

    Like you said, its 25.

I don't think you will find steel on the 50, just paper stands.

Oh, your "why" was regard to the why would someone shoot a rifle on the 25 - I don't either - but I suppose some people like to practice shooting their AR's at home defense distances - if their AR is their home defense gun.

I confirmed this weekend that PCCs were allowed on the pistol range. I hadn't been down there since March (on that brutally cold weekend!) and it was a blast as always. Good people down there, glad to give them my money.

Heard through the grapevine they no longer allow 50 BMG. Anyone confirm ?

Yep, I went there last year to shoot my 50, cuz the website & the lady I talked to on the phone said I could. Then I get there & find out I can't. :mad54:

I see their site still says "all types of firearms".

50 BMG is an issue in many places due to two reasons. 1) you can't police ammo use 100% and tracers do start fires. 2) The 50 BMG projectile covers a lot of ground and so do the ricochets. Ranges have been shut down and/or sued when a spent round finds it's way into a neighborhood. 3) They are loud!

Yep, that's why they disallowed them. Some yahoo shot over the berm & hit a barn. Idiot. My beef was with them not telling anyone ahead of time or updating the website. Westminster to there is a long way for nothing.

DSC had some 50cal ammo go over the berm and strike a garage over the river from my understanding. Bob Culver the county exec is thinking about putting more restrictions on the two public ranges in Wiomico County because of the incident.

Ask the shooters in PG county the price paid when some fools decided to shoot machine guns at floating pumpkins on a farm about 25 years ago or so. PG made the laws so strict, I doubt that anyone can shoot on their own property unless it covers about five square miles. :sad20:

On a happier note I’ll probably be at DSC Thursday around noon for a couple of hours to shoot on my way to Salisbury for the late season.

Dress warm and bring snow shovel.

Definitely. I am worried I won’t be able to get back to Nanticoke. It’s a dirt road the last 2-3 miles to the parking area and parts have some big holes and ruts as it is. It’s not like I am driving an AWD truck with 10 inches of ground clearance or anything. I’ll just hope for lower accumulations, a snow shovel and hopefully very dry powdery snow.
