Is it legal for a Virginia resident to bring a non --HBAR AR to a range in Maryland?

    No .

Unless it is otherwise Grandfathered to them specifically.

Yes, this very situation was discussed in Committee back in '13 , to allow for Residents of other states ( with emphasis on neighboring States) to temporarily bring in their Evil Rifles to shoot in competions at Md based Clubs and/ or lawfully hunt . No go .

Yes and no. The whole thing is stupid. If the point is they don't want post 2013 evil firearms in maryland, then no, it isn't stupid.

Most states if something is banned you cannot bring it in to the state. This is little different.

My point is this.....Criminals do not G-A-F***. This does absolutely nothing to prevent gun violence and solves a problem that never even existed in Maryland.

the whole FSA 2013 was O'Malley jumping on the Obama bandwagon preparing for a presidential bid. An expensive campaign at taxpayer and citizen expense. He experienced how far that got him.

My signature below sums up your statement/frustration. The FSA '13 pretty much targets only legally owned firearms owned by law abiding citizens.

It depends. Of the 7 ARs I own, only two can't be brought into Maryland. Only two of my ARs were built before 2013. None of them are HBARs.

    1. 6.8 SPC, built in 2009. Legal to enter MD.
    2. 5.56 with SPR profile barrel, built in 2010ish. Legal to enter MD.
    3. 5.56 with M4 barrel, built 2015. NOT legal in MD.
    4. 5.56 with pencil barrel, built in 2016. NOT legal in MD.
    5. 9mm AR built in 2016. Legal to enter MD.
    6. 5.56 pistol with M4 barrel, built in 2015. Legal to enter MD.
    7. 6.8 SPC pistol with SPR profile barrel, built 2016. Legal to enter MD.

Unless its before FSA of 2013, you could always change the barrel to a hbar barrel then swapping back if you plan on frequenting md ranges.
