Was there last week and noticed a few things.

    #1 - it was empty from 5pm to 7pm on a Thursday
#2 - stock was way lower than I've ever seen
#3 - used case was empty
#4 - rental pistols seemed a lot leaner.

Are they going out? Is there a new range around that's taking business? Did they lose a contract?

Chantilly gun range files for Ch. 11 after closing Richmond-area location

Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantilly, Virginia, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, but has no plans to close.

Chantilly indoor target range and firearms retailer Blue Ridge Arsenal has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, listing assets of less than $500,000 and liabilities of nearly $1.5 million.
The largest of those liabilities relates to a sister property Blue Ridge operated in Ashland, Virginia, outside of Richmond, which closed in August. There’s an $816,800 disputed judgment for the lease guaranty for that location, according to the Chapter 11 petition, which was filed Feb. 9 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Blue Ridge is one of the worst ranges in northern VA. It is overpriced, dirty, staff is rude, ventilation is awful. I live 3 miles from there and haven't been back since 2013. Elite Shooting Sports or the NRA Range are the only indoor ranges I go to. Personally, I don't feel bad for Blue Ridge.

The owner is an Obama Supporter, in 2008 AND 2012. I didn't forget.

Other than the ventilation I always liked going there. Of course I've only gone once or twice the last 10 years since I don't live in VA anymore. I remember once it was friggin hot in there.

Too bad. I didn't like the NRA range. Way too picky about every little thing.

The last time I was there (2013), they wouldn’t let me shoot my SBR because I had a copy of my approved Form 1 and not the original. :sad20:

Thursday nights at a range are usually not very crowded. I hit Elite Shooting and the NRA range on weeknights and there are usually very few other shooters there.

Took my NRA basic pistol course there years ago. I was going to check it out again after moving from MD to VA last year, but found better ranges to go and didn't bother anymore. Well, that's free market economy at work.

Silver Eagle in Ashburn is great, the staff are friendly and some of the NRA RSOs moonlight there.

Blue Ridge Arsenal lost my business when I went in looking for a specific shotgun years ago (probably ten years ago) and when they didn't have what I was looking for, they tried to sell me what they had. That's fair, but I knew what I wanted. Then they said to me "oh, did your husband tell you what to buy?"

    :mad54::mad54::mad54:

I dropped my NRA business card on the counter and told them exactly where the could put their shotguns.
