You need to flip your thinking around; why aren't they supporting the largest firearms community and base of customers in Maryland?

All they need to do is contact texkev at admin@mdshooters.com, pay the stupidly low fee and they are in.

Many small business do not understand marketing and advertising and how it can effect increasing revenue. I spent a lot of time and effort getting a Shooting range/store in Maryland to join MDS as a IP, they heed and hawed over the low cost and time it would take to respond to online questions etc. It got to the point where they could not handle the foot traffic or demand on the business resources. Bottom line it just just a part of running a business do you want to grow or not. If you get more business then you can handle you must be doing something right.

Clint McKee used to have a guy, I believe he was from Ohio, doing a lot of PR for him. My memory is foggy but I believe he was shot competitively and also wrote books. He had a Dr. in front of his name but I just can't recall him. At that time, Clint used to mostly do CMP type rifles as well as M1 carbines. It has been at least 25 years since I have been there but he never lacked for work.

The shop I visit at least once a week does Zero advertising other than their generic store front website that pretty much all FFL's use. Everything is word of mouth and pretty much every day from open to close it is steady business.

Problem is that now, if they advertise something at market rate, MDS members will give them crap.

And they can easily sell for market price to a walk in.

I don't think thats entirely true. United was posting up consignment shotguns for huge money and all it seemed to generate around here was comments of people who wanted to put their stuff on consignment too.

Course we have our problem children but who doesn't?

My experience with Fulton Armory is about 10 years old, but they were really, really busy when I sent in my M1 for some work. They don't have to do any advertising because anyone who shoots M1s or M1As in high power knows their name and I think this is the reason they aren't plugged into MDS.

They were at current market price years ago.

Probably so, they are on the M14 forum and that is where their niche lies.

Fulton makes high quality match rifles for XTC competition. If 15 people here has been in the pits at Camp Perry I'd be surprised. Why market your product to a group that isn't interested in your labor of love?
