First AR build: Head spacing ?

Hey all, I am nearly finished assembling my first AR15. Can anyone out there direct me to the necessity or requirement to perform the head spacing task?
I have looked on other forums, some people do it, others have never done it.
Open for suggestions and direction.

Any reputable barrel and bcg manufacturer should be fine. Not to say you shouldn't do it, but I haven't heard of many problems with decent manufacturers.

Barrel: Wilson Combat .223 Wylde
BCG: PSA run of the mill blemished etc...

Even using quality name branded parts, it never hurts to check if the components are within spec. To properly utilize the gauges, there are many how-tos on the internet.

For an AR all you really need is a Field gauge. A stripped bolt should not close on it.
