    My take on this is that President Hussein wants to de-popularize the war with the public. If more people demand, protest, riot, whatever, against the war, wether it be because of the tax or not, then he can pull us out. It does HIM and his agenda no good for us to be over there....

    My thoughts exactly. Remember when a handful of anti-war Democrats proposed bringing back conscription? http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0123-04.htm This sounds like a similar idea. It's not a totally bad one either. I do have a serious issue with the fact that the average American, whether supportive or unsupportive of the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan, doesn't have to do much of anything to aid the war.

    What I want to know is why neither Bush nor Obama have asked the American public to do ANYTHING to help the war effort. I'd be all for selling some war bonds.
