Stupidity or the "spur of the moment great deal" purchased a cal. compliant Windham with the ever so loveable bullet button.. Looking to swap it out with a normal mag release. Easy DIY project or take it to the Smith?

I have the tool, and it's not easy to remove on some guns.

Yup, some manufacturers Locktite the crap out of it for some reason. If you make your own tool by cutting a slot out of a screwdriver, it can make it easier. Go slow so you don't end up having to drill it out or something.

If it has loctite in the threads... applying the tip of a good soldering iron to the button side end of the extractor threads will heat/melt the loctite for more ease of removal.

Be careful with the heat and hot parts.
