    OK,

Watched the Youtube videos carefully while cleaning my new-to-me Steyr m95/30.
The problem i am having is:\

before i took it apart, you could - with some effort - move the bolt face forward and back like you're supposed to be able to.

Now, upon reassembly, the bolt face is clearly spring loaded and it's difficult to get it to stay in the forward position so i can put the bolt back in the gun.

    Any help is appreciated.

    OOPS.
Ah, it seems to have been a 'technique' issue.
    I got it.

    Never mind.

How to you enjoy the recoil on that Steyr m95/30? I have three of them. They're one of the few guns that make me wince if I just think about them.

Recoil for the PPU ammo is not that bad but nothing as soft as an M1 Garand. I have some original Nazi ammo and shot 1 round and there is a difference. Much more recoil. Maybe the energy (I did not chrono it) or maybe just the speed of the powder.

It's a good basic design (good enough that Sir Charles Ross stole it for the Ross MKII) but I'd never want to be in the position to have to reassemble it under pressure. Takes a little bit of care and finesse.

    Haven't shot it yet.
I've watched the videos on Youtube of people shooting it.
I don't expect to shoot it much.
Bought it because it's unusual and small.

Watch out for it's kick. Big things come out of that little rifle.

There's an arch-shaped piece of steel in the bolt assembly that acts as a spring, and pushes into a detent to keep the bolt locked in the extended position. Over time a lot of these lose their tension, and the bolt won't stay extended, which makes it impossible to re-install in the receiver. If you disassemble, lightly bend the piece to give it a bit more tension, and reassemble, the bolt will hold open better so re-inserting the bolt goes easier.

It's been years since I've played with mine, so I don't have any pictures and I'm sorry this information isn't more detailed, but if you're mechanically inclined you'll figure it out.
