As the heading says whats best way to grip a small pistol? I notice when I fire a small pistol like a .25 or a small kahr and all fingers dont wrap the grip I tend to twist the pistol as I pull the trigger. I dont have the problem on the larger handguns. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't change your master grip but focus on your trigger squeeze with a smaller grip. If that doesn't work, perhaps buy larger grips for the smaller pistol if htat will help. But I still think its in the squeeze.

According to Massad Ayoob's book "Combat Handgunnery" you should tuck your pinky underneath the butt of the grip as opposed to just leaving it hanging there.

It takes a lot of practice to find a good grip that places your hand high enough to quickly recover from recoil, yet stay away from the moving parts. In a lot of ways the little stuff takes more practice than the mid and full sized pistols, especially considering you want to practice single strong/weak hand shooting, and practice pocket holster draws. So far this is the best grip that I have come up with for my little LCP. I am not showing proper full arm extension or posture, it is hard to take a picture of myself while using both hands. With this 2 handed high grip, the snappy recoil is easy to manage, and the pistol drops right back in line very quickly allowing me to dump all 7 rounds in a couple seconds accurately, more or less a 6" circle at 15 ft, more than adequate for it's intended purpose as a CCW pocket gun, or back up to my M&P 9c.

The single handed position places the thumb high to both control recoil, and to allow the tip of my trigger finger to pass underneath. Either hold has my pinky tucked underneath the mag, and outside of that is similar to the grip I use for larger pistols. It is a very intuitive grip, and will place the sights close to alignment quickly, which for tis is a huge help, because the sights are so small and hard to see.
