Just picked this one up and thought I’d share, as it’s an interesting WWII CZ-24 variant that doesn’t turn up much. Lucked across it on Gunbroker when I was searching other things and had to grab it as I’ve been after one of these for a while.
When Germany occupied Czechoslovakia they captured a large number of CZ-24 pistols (over 175,000 were produced between 1924-1938). In nearly all cases the Germans didn’t reproof captured Czech pistols produced before the occupation. Reportedly, however, a small number of parts remained in the factory at the time the Germans marched in and were then assembled under occupation for German forces. This pistol falls into the latter category.
These occupation pistols are distinguishable by a few unique features:
- No serial numbers on any parts
- 4 vertical slide serrations (standard Czech produced CZ-24s have 5 slanted serrations)
- German Eagle/swastika test proof on barrel (visible through chamber port) and WaA76 waffenamt on underside of barrel
The icing on the cake for this pistol includes two magazines marked P.mod.24, correct for the occupation made guns and a nice 1940 Krieghoff CZ-24 holster with Luftwaffe proofs. Super happy to find one in a complete rig and in such nice shape!
