    Most 80% lowers start life as forgings, and at the moment there are few if any forgings heading anywhere other than to be finished as complete receivers.

    billet80.com is running about 4-5 weeks lead-time. Expensive, but from what I can see nowhere else has them available this side of summer.

    Yes. If they finish it for you then they are a manufacturer and need an FFL. Someone can help you get set up but cannot perform the work.

    At what point is it considered "finished" where you could then have a pro work on it for general maintenance / upkeep? Seems like a really blurry line....

    ATF says when u can drop a trigger group in it. Everything else can be machined/milled/drilled out except the trigger pocket.
