My HQL application was submitted electronically on 01/05/2017.

On Monday 01/23/2017, my HQL application was approved and a license number was assigned - the total processing time was 18 days.

It should be noted that throughout the 18 days, only one box was ever checked off as being "COMPLETE" and that particular box was the very first line item that acknowledged that the HQL application was submitted and received by the MSP Licensing Division on 01/05/2017.

Update: The Maryland HQL hardcopy arrived in today's mail on Thursday, January 26, 2015.

Total processing time was 21 days; not bad and IMO it was a fairly quick and painless process.

I submitted my online application on January 5, 2017. The Certification was issued 18 days later on January 23, 2017 and my hard copy HQL arrived in the mail today, January 26. From start to finish (HQL in hand), it took 21 days. Not bad for Government work, I'd say.

They are capable of doing it in days, see the graph at the top of the page, instead of weeks and it should not be required at all.

Submitted Jan 10, approved today Jan 31st. Now I need my card before the Howard County gun show this weekend.

You can't purchase with just the hql number can you?
