    When the department began testing the 9 mm handguns they ordered from Sig Sauer in December, they noticed guns starting to break, Schultz said.

    Upon inspection, Schultz said almost every new gun’s recoil spring had compression issues.

    “We had some catastrophic failures very quickly that Sig could not guarantee us would not happen again, and that affected our confidence in the weapons system,” Altomare said. “We’re not talking about guns that we had rehabbed. We’re talking about brand new guns in less than 300 rounds. So it’s kind of a wow moment.”

    Yes....after the miami shootout LEOs left the 9mm due to....OVERpenetration concerns...

    FYI: I navigated to the Force Science Institute & 4 years later the full study still hasn't been published (at least I couldn't locate).

    Really interested in reading the full study, if any of you locate, please post the link.
