google is your friend, I am not.
Airbow: 160 foot lbs energy with 375 gr arrows @ 450 FPS

My crossbow: 130 ft lbs energy (fpe) with a 450 grain arrow @ 375 FPS. I can hit a 4" circle at 50 yards (also: it's a bullpup and OAL is 34" same as airbow).

Some crossbows now are 150 fpe.

The law may require them to regulate these as air guns because guns! but seems to me that they are just fancy crossbows**.

... and now I have another thing on my list of things I must have.

** And if they want to encourage people to kill more deer in Central maryland they should allow them as crossbows during archery season.

Wicked (as in neat) looking thing. Liberal head will explode when they start seeing it.

Other than cosmetic features (ahem, Maryland), how is this a cross between a high powered rifle and a crossbow? It's more like an air rifle that shoots a long pointy pellet.

Great - just what we need: Ghost bows - That right there has the ability with a .30-caliber clip to disperse with 30 arrows within half a second. Thirty magazine clip in half a second.

1000 internets for the first person who designs one that can fire semi-automatically from a detachable magazine. :lol2:

It's not the 1950s any more...who the hell still says, "new-fangled"??

I was brought up in the fifties, and it seems the writer of the AP article was.as well. So the answer is WE DO.

Just cuz it's old doesn't mean we should stop using something.

More like a speargun that uses air. You can see the newness of this technology in the movie Thunderball circa 1960's.

A manually-operated repeater version of this would have zombie/SHTF usefulness. Projectiles could be crafted about as easily as regular arrows. Then you just need compressed air.

I can picture a gravity-feed box magazine on top of an air arrow-launcher, something like the feed mechanism of the ancient Chinese repeating crossbow:

"The agency is proposing to expand its definition of air guns to include those that fire arrows. The weapons would be permitted for hunting deer during the muzzleloader and conventional firearm seasons. They would also be legal during black bear season."

A regulation that expands the allowable use of a weapon. That is the kind of regulation that I can live with......

MoCo still considers it a firearm, just like Nerf guns, because it propels a projectile by any means imaginable.

(yes, a rubber band on the end of your finger constitutes a 'firearm' in MoCo.)
