Garand Tune-up

I have an appointment with the "Garand Whisperer" Charlie Maloney, tomorrow.

I'm pretty excited to sit with him and get intimate with the rifle. Since this is an import, it's a bit of a mystery in terms of throat, muzzle, headspace and timing. He's going to check all that out and more.

He is awesome. Get the trigger job and what ever he recommends. You will learn a lot. He is a true master.

I think I used him about 20 years ago for
some M1A work...not sure. Is he up in
Montgomery County?
Also used a guy down on Cobb Island who
tuned up a couple or three of my Garands.
That was about 15 years ago.

No, Charlie Maloney is in Catonsville, just a couple miles outside the B'more beltway. He did a bunch of work for me over the summer, inspecting and tuning the triggers of the guns I brought him. It was hugely educational to watch and learn as he took each one through it's paces.

Roger Miller was the guy in Cobb Island. I believe he suffered a stroke a few years ago and I have heard he isn't doing much these days.

Local armorers who truly know the rifle are few and far between and aging out. For those of you who, like me, are purchasing non-CMP Garands, and they're also your first Garands, you should really think about availing yourself of Maloney's services.

A "NO GO" rifle could cause an injury or at best, damage the rifle. I dunno who's going to pick up the reins when these guys have passed.

Yea, I hear you. Charlie is getting up there and semi retired.
I guess Fulton Armory?

The garand is so simple, I’m surprised anyone needs to take it in for a ‘tune up”. Lol. Buy the garand book by Duff if you’re feeling intimidated
