This knife was given to me, by an old, “to me, anyway, I was 18” cowboy, in south central Montana. When an older hand ,figured a young hand, wasn’t quite useless, it was a bit of a tradition, to give him a bit of gear. Its been 34 years, and I’m still proud, to own this knife.
The spine is a slightly peened over, from splitting mule deer, and elk sternum.

Some Benchmades from the current EDC rotation. I need to manage my storage better. The US made Kershaws currently in rotation are all over the place.

Wow, a Ruana! He really did not think you were useless.

That knife is quite valuable, even before the priceless memories you surely have with it!

Ruanas are really neat. They have a pretty great youtube video in how they are made. Where in central Montana were you? I worked on a ranch up in Geyser, still do when I'm able to get away from work out here.

Thanks for the youtube tip! Mostly Big Timber/McLeod area. Married a girl from Rockville, got her to move out, for a very cold winter, and back to MD, ever since. Still have family, out there.

Good to see a Ruana, especially one in good hands, with a good story. It's nice to know they're still appreciated.

What do you folks use to store your fixed blades and folders? I am using backpacks and satchels. Is there a better product?

    Q

I have been contemplating getting a couple knife rolls from bladehq.com, but looks like they are only made to fit fit folders, still need some better solution for my fixed blades. my current cabela's bag is working, but not really a great option.

This was bought 10 or more years ago on the eastern shore at a booth set up for one festival or another. The seller made it from a file and did some work on the hilt and the back of the blade. I don’t remember his name but there is a stamp on the right side. The purple reflection is an orchid.

Endura, Police 3 and Ulize. The Endura is my EDC work knife. A slightly older version is my around the house knife.
