    EAST vs WEST

    Some DMR Gunporn.

ROMANIAN PSL-54C vs Springfield Armory M1A Sage/EBR/ Chopmod.

    Shootout!!!!!!!

No contest, M1A wins. but gets to stay in the safe.
The PSL gets to play a lot due to the cheaper cost of ammo.

Both are great guns , awesome shooters. Best of all, they are both mine!!!:D

SCAR, thanks for the PDF link. nice find!

FCobra, I'm in the same boat as you with getting into the game too late. Just bought my first rifle in 2006 and my first handgun in 2008, and now my first shotgun in 2009. Now it seems I've paid a premium for some weapons that would have cost me much less just a year or two ago, some of them could have been had for HALF what I am paying for them today :sad20: And now with the threat of our handlers possibly renewing the AWB I feel compelled to pay these inflated prices for fear that sale of the more interesting pieces will become prohibited. I'm looking at buying an $800 AK sometime here shortly. Truth is, it's really worth that to me so I can't cry about it. :gun7:

WOW!!! That SA looks like it should be on a SciFi movie. That awesome

It is actually a chopmod version of the SAGE EBR ( Enhanced Battle Rifle). This stock is the same stuff used by the Navy SEALS and is shorter than the standard Sage stock. It is all aluminum. the barrel is free floated and rails all over. the Stock is fully adjustable and has a cheekpiece. I chose the full size version as I am a fan of the SA 's open sights. and the Versapod works on both rifles.

This rifle actually shoots less than 1/2 MOA at 100 yards with match ammo.
The stock actually improved performance. I only have access to a 100 yard range so I have not tested this rig to its full potential. It is also wearing crappy SA 3rd generation mounts and a 3-9 scope. I wish I can afford a sadlak mount and a Leupold scope but there are other things to get for now. Besides,it works. This rifle is one of my favorites and is a definite tackdriver.

But again, this rifle cost about Five PSLs. IMHO, It is worth it. it is American designed and Made. The SAGE EBR, It is the M14...perfected.

Yeah, my buddy has one of these he got last year and it's a lot of fun to shoot. It's not dead nuts accurate, but seeing as it's just a big AK I wouldn't expect it to be. Still I can manage 2-3" groups at 100 with the 7N1 ammo. I think half the fun of the rifle is slinging brass all over the range. His kind of flings them to the rear a little and he once scored a nice gash on my forehead when I was shooting a few benches over. Needless to say we were happy it wounded me and not a stranger.

He's decided he likes shooting clays a lot more and also wants a new flat-screen so he's been considering selling the thing. I've also considered buying it, but who knows. If I don't nab it up first keep your eyes peeled for it in the For Sale section.

SCARCQB: Do you know the dimensions of the PSL with/without the scope attached? I can't seem to find them online and that makes looking for a hard shell gun case tough ;)

    Thanks!

It says to use " LIGHT BALL ONLY" not to exceed 150 grains.

    Thanks for the reminder.

Is 149 grain light enough, or should I look for something even lighter? I still havent bought the PSL yet, but I am looking at pushing the order button sometime tonight. I have a bunch of 149 grain incoming for another rifle, and need to know if I would need to buy more in a lighter weight. Technically, the 149 falls under the 150 max rating, but I am still wondering if it is light enough...

    Thanks
    Andy

I have shot 150 rounds of Bulgarian 149 grain surplus ammo thru my PSL and I see no problem with it. It ran fine with only one FTF incident around the first 20 rounds. As per the instructions manual 149 is OK.

Grouping was around 2.00 inches at 100 yards, but thats with last weekends rain. Just make sure you Spray the Rifle with Windex as to neutralize the corrosive salts . I did not clean my rifle immediately, It showed rust at the trunnion area 12 hours after being fired.

I freaked out and cleaned it like a muzzleloader with hot soap and water. used a hair dryer, then a coat of WD 40 and CLP. Im happy with it, It is just it is the only high powered rifle that I can still afford to shoot nowadays.

Spray with Windex, huh? Is that after cleaning, or before taking to the range? I have ordered the same ammo that you are using it would appear. I have never used corrosive ammo before, so have no experience, but it seems to be the only thing available in this size...

Most people use windex to spray the bore and internal parts right after shooting with corrosive ammo. It helps neutralize the corrosive compounds. I usually do this, let it drip , then spray it with WD40. This buys me a bit more time before corrosion starts. This is a good trick just in case you cant clean the rifle immediately after a range session.

I just read a test report that found Hoppe's #9 and WD-40 to be the best for stopping corrosion associated with corrosive ammo.

What do you just spray it around in the receiver and barrel?
I usually just run some cloth with some cleaning solvent and a light wire brush through the barrel after shooting corrosive.
