This scares a farking shart out of me!

"not calling for insurrection" and militia (aka civlian military force) are contradictory terms. why call it a militia and not something else more peaceful.

Tea Party is about as peaceful sounding as you can get and it's been labeled racist, extreme, and violent. So why not use the proper name and not worry about trying to appease those who stand against us.

Here is the link to sign up for the Maryland Defense Force

    http://mddf.maryland.gov/faq.aspx

My understanding is that members of the MDDF are exempt for certain
provisions of these proposed gun laws.

There are two types of Militia provided for in MD.

    1) The unorganized Militia (which is basically every citizen in MD), and
    2) The Organized Militia, comprising of the voluntary MD Defense Force and the National Guard.

I read the requirements today on how to become a voluntary member of the MDDF.

I would wait to send your email to them to join until we see just where this bill goes.

Voluntarily joining is not a cake-walk...ya got to buy a uniform, and take some basic training and spend some time in Pikesville at the Armory.

If we are hesitant, there is probably good reason. We are probably a little bit older and have figured out to be patient and gather necessary info to make informed decisions.

Further, I just heard dumass go from pro AWB to we should probably take that out back to AWB within a week so forgive me if I appear a little untrusting.

I think he is going after the print listed in the Maryland constitution which is why he is listing it specifically a "Voluntary".

Isn't Del. Dwyer a member here? Maybe he can give us a bit more info. I signed up for his email list and if getting emails from a member of the GA throws up red flags then I'm screwed. I get emails and FB updates from quite a few of them.

If every member of this militia were to contribute $750-$1000 as a one-time membership fee or in installments, perhaps the funds could be used to buy and construct a centrally-located range to train.

Guess that means those of us over 45 years of age are unorganized. Sign me up! Guilty as charged.
