    Jim,

Try flipping the link to the rear and then compressing the spring while pulling up on it. Just a SWAG as I was never rich enough to own a TRP. :D

Pssh, I have the TRP, a Dan Wesson Silverback, and two STIs, the TRP is actually the cheap one of the bunch

that's funny, the article STOPS at the hard part.

i am doing the peacemaker supersteel tomorrow morning. if you are going to be there and want to bring it, i'd be happy to help you try and figure it out.

but yeah when you get home take a pic so we can try to see what's going on.

I'm shooting the PM side, I'll come early and let you take a look at it. It does take three hands and holding your tongue just right to reassemble :sad20:

Thanks to Davsco, I was able to get the gun apart and it is now clean and ready to run. This is going to be fun running in the 1911 match next weekend. I'll have 300 rounds of 10mm loaded up and ready to go.

I don't have any of that type of recoil system, but I am curious as to how you got the barrel out, just for my own knowledge.

Did it come out from the front or the rear? I assume to the rear, based on the picture.

Did you have to compress and hold the recoil spring or were you able to remove it?

Did you have to use any tools? If so, what?

Do you have any recommendations when dealing with that type of system, now that you were successful?

    Good luck at your match.

The plug shown at the front of the slide needed a punch to back out. Once it was backed out, the barrel came out like a normal 1911. The spring is captured inside the plug, and has a short guide rod. The short rod makes it difficult to put the gun back together, since the 22# recoil spring has a mind of its own. I'll do a video later this week on it.

yeah that plug was in there tight. frankly it looked like it was part of the slide, it was such a precise fit. but we tapped on it gently and it did slide out (back towards the chamber). then the barrel slid out the front of the slide.
