I believe I signed up for squad 3 and will be running pcc as well.

Yep, Squad 3 , see you guys there.

I had to back out, that drive will kill me right now with these temperatures.

No worries. This give me a chance to test the scorpion platform. If I like it in these unsanctioned matches I'll simply buy a carbine for when we do and I compete elsewhere. I still have two Colt brand ar9s that would fit the bill in a pinch anyhow.

I'm 4th overall in the Combined section. I used my Scorpion with PDW brace for 3, 5, and 6. I switched to the AR9 on 4, then shot 1 and 2 for official score.

My scorpion/SB braced pistol did fine, but the brand new Holosun Red dot crapped out and lost zero big time on the third stage. I ran parts 1 and 2 very fast and was closing in for the kill on the 3rd part when I found I couldn't hit the broadside of a board. I tested zero on the next stage and the dot had moved the POI two feet down and a foot to the right. Sending it in for warranty work...I have a 510C that's been rock solid, and a CMore railway if that doesn't work well...

Mike/Rick, thanks for a fun day. I'm hooked. I'm signed up for IDPA with pistol as well. Can I switch that to PCC, or if enough slots are open as we near the date, do both?

I also debuted a braced Scorpion pistol today. Literally the first time I'd put a round through it. Seat-of-the-pants bore sited a new Vortex Razor holographic site, and it was close enough to right that it was banging steel. Fun to shoot! That thing is a chunky little monkey.

Just put my old CMore on it. Sight in tomorrow, run in IDPA later in the month. Fun gun for sure!

Another great and safe match, even with a little tumble (not me).

Just saw the results, 12th out of almost 30 with a Sig P365, one mag holder and fishing a reload on the Stage(s) of Madness out of my pocket. I'll take that. Guy right behind me also shot a 365.

Velocity is a funny thing when shooting at steel targets. Too much damages the targets, too little can damage your face.

True. Note that AGC also has a minimum ammunition velocity standard of 750 fps for shooting steel. There are a number of cartridges in certain loadings that won't meet that spec.

The specs on certain ammunition, especially with regard to a number of the older cartridges, need to be looked at. Hornady's Cowboy loading in 45 Colt at 725fps is one such example of a factory loading that doesn't meet that spec . There are other examples that likely rate a close look if by chance one was shooting one of these older cartridges, to be sure the specific loading is north of 750.

Officially, I like big guns and old guns...but if I keep seeing those new little ones kickin' butt...I guess I'm going to have to get one :rolleye12

(after I run a match with the big 101 year old revolver...of course ;) )

I guess now I have to use my P365 carry gun next time or I’m just going to feel bad. Hmm. Might need a different holster for that! And a couple more mags dammit. This place is trouble. :)

Soo...normally I make it a point to stay and help clean up until the very end. The 12/21 IDPA match is the same day as the MRPC club meeting (which starts at 2pm). In light of the proposed AGC guest fee, I'm going to have to attend :tap: I encourage any of my fellow Monumental members to do the same. Hopefully, IDPA will be all done and cleaned up by then anyway. If not, I promise I will make it up at the next one.

    IDPA match Dec 21

I made the cut, from the waitlist to the IDPA match. Glad I did!

Match was tons of fun. I’d shot an IDPA match 15 years or so ago. Since then, not much competition. Started up again with AGC Action Shooting 3-Gun earlier this year. I’m not wedded to any of the particular disciplines, rather jumping on whichever ones line up with days/weekends I’m not working.

If you’re thinking about coming to any sort of action shooting match, to include IDPA, do it. It’s a great experience, and will test your shooting ability regardless of your skill level.

I shot the match with my G26, since my G19 has a light on it and IDPA doesn’t allow that. Used a standard OWB pancake holster, and Safariland magazine clips. Gear worked as expected. Draws from Concealment under two layers (jacket and hoodie) were slow but that’s reality in 34° weather.

I’m going to post the COFs so other potential (new) shooters can see what they’re like.

    Warmup stage

Each of the three squads started with the same warmup drill. I believe this is a standard IDPA warmup.

6 IDPA stages on Dec 21 at AGC

Posting the stages in the order that my squad shot them.

For other noobs, hands  are no-shoots, and black panels on targets are hard (impenetrable) cover.
