Buyer from MD, seller from NC. Is there anything that needs to happen paperwork wise to transfer the gun to me?

    Looking to finalize this asap

It would help if you mentioned, handgun, shotgun, or rifle in order to give you a complete answer.

For the most part if you parse the answers given, pretty much everything has been covered, but I have yet to see anyone on here with a working crystal ball that can answer and incomplete question.

    Pistol - Maryland FFL

Rifle or Shotgun ( Md compliant) - You can go to NC , meet him at NC FFL , and transfer done in about 10min .

With a long gun, you could meet in the middle at an FFL for a legal transfer. A handgun must go through a FFL in the buyer's home state.
Mountain Dews are a whole nother can of worms, or whatever.

Incorrect, the FFL has to either be in the state of sale or the state of purchase.

Does anyone know if the MSP Bel Air barracks will do a Handgun Transfer. The sale will be between to MD residents both with HQL's?

I did a DE to MD buy,
Buyer brought the gun to my FFL (not a major distance thing, since only one state away).

FFL did all the paperwork, and wait period,
and then I picked it up.

Normal HQL or other requirements in play.
I am also a Designated Collector.
    I love handguns.
And even have my own personal shooting range.

Another thing I don’t know if covered.....no high cap mags! Seller can give to you outside Maryland but FFL cannot transfer with hicap mags in state. If seller keeps mags then make sure Md FFL will accept w/o mags. And like was was said .... must be on the MSP “approved” list. Good luck

What do I need to do if I want to drive down and pick it up private sale

If it is a long gun, it could be transferred through an NC FFL.

But it must be legal for purchase in MD, and legal for sale in NC.

If a handgun it MUST transfer through an MD FFL.

    Wrong.

It can be in a 3rd state.

Federal law does not require FFL in home state of either the seller or the buyer.

But regardless, that is a lot of time, effort and possibly money to try to save shipping and FFL transfer fee.

But of course you’d still have to pay an FFL somewhere.

NC is probably at least $60 of gas money ground trip away.
