Any recommendations for a good red dot site ($200-$300) for use with 22LR 100 yard range.

    Thanks

Holosun makes some pretty awesome red dots for that price range.

i personally wouldn't spend that much for a .22 optic but to each they're own!

A red dot isn't going to give you a ton of precision on a .22 at 100yds. For that price range you could pick up a decent rimfire scope. Personally I like the Nikon rimfire fixed 4x.

Rifle or pistol? I'd also ask if a scope(even a 1-4) would better meet your needs

A scope would be better for long range precision unless the precision required is larger "practical" sized targets.
I tried a Vortex original SPARC which had a 2 moa dot. By the time the flare from the dot and the light of the
sight washing out some of the target (what I see) much of the precision is not realized.

I have a vortex spit fire 1x on my smith and Wesson m&p 15-22. I replaced it with a scope on my ar-15 and didn't have a home for it so I put it on my 15-22.

best part was removing those clunky ass iron sights the rifle came with. (1st gen M&P) Those damn things probably weigh more than the optic lol.
