I've been talking to a dealer about a possible trade and I need to send my gun to him. The dealer is a verified seller on Guns International.

What do I need to know? Because as Ray Lewis would say, I don't know what I don't know.

I assume I need the following:
    Certified Mail
    Insurance

The simplified low-down: UPS or FEDEX overnight air with adult signature required.
You'll need a copy of the destination's FFL as well.
I always check that against the ATF's list to make sure it's valid, just in case.
Insurance isn't required but it's a good idea.
You can't send it via USPS Priority or Certified Mail unless you are a "bonified dealer or manufacturer".

When shipping my daughters rifle to lapua for ammo testing, I was strongly encouraged to use UPS as the fedex insurance claim process was rife with issues.

I was pressed for time so I didn’t dig - it was enough that everyone I spoke with said do not use fedex

    Good luck
