Finally shot this the other day

Couple of times where the pistol went click and gave what I thought looked like an awful light hammer strike. Cocked it again and it went off. Either a weak hammer spring or the crappy Hotshot 9mm ammo I was running. Have to try again with better ammo or maybe I just replace the spring to be sure.

Les Baer Custum Heavyweight Monolith…preowned, a little rough on the outside but done right on the inside...with a properly fitted barrel. Trigger is as expected, not much slide to frame clearance.
The Monolith chassis does its job of steadying on target hold and smoothing out the recoil impulse.

Pics of pistol and a composite target of a 25 yard standing target of 10 shots two hands and 3 shots one hand bullseye style.

I like the worn look…speaks to observer…good luck with whatever direction you in with it

It’s an EDC pistol. I like the worn look as well. All the controls were originally blued. The finish wore off and I polished the parts.

It looks like a smoke nitride finish.

I’ll probably just replace the tritium sights and leave it as is.

Btw , the slim grips made a big difference in comfort and point ability.

    Happy early birthday!!

I bought myself a new toy ON my bday over the weekend. A 1911 was on my list of wants but every dealer had the same overpriced boring stuff.

VERY NICE. Congratulations on your first 1911. You're probably going to find that you're going to enjoy shooting your 1911 more than almost any other handgun you own. :)

Thank you. I had a custom 2 in my hands and also an SS Target 2. The Custom 2 brushed finish did not look that good to my eyes, and the beavertail safety felt weird, almost loose.

It was between this at the Target 2, with the target 2 being a bit less. The Hero Custom just felt great and the fiber optic sights were super easy to pick up.

Also held a Raptor but I could not justify an over $500 premium for fancy charging serrations.

I am usually a sucker for stainless steel, but the finish just plain looked and felt excellent on the Hero.
