I know these aren’t C&R yet but they are surplus pistols from a few decades back (1985-1990). I see that SOG had some in stock at $320 and they sold out in a few days. A very quick search on gunbroker shows that the mags are $80, and if that’s the going rate then that’s pretty much a deal killer for Marylanders.

Anybody know anything about them? They look pretty cool. Kind of have a “CZ” look to them.

Never heard of them but even if they are 15 round mags can't they be sent to FFL01 and modified to 10 before transfer

Actually Star went farther back . The M28 , and later M30/31 were influenced by Charles Petter's design , circa 1930 . Petter's designs later also influenced CZ .

I have 2 Star Model 43, 9 mm pistols, they are kind of a 1911style, single action pistol.
They are well made, all steel, with the CZ style inverted slide rail system.
I have not looked at any of the Model 28s yet, but am considering buying one of the Model BMs that are for sale alot of places these days.

I owned a 30M for a while back in the 90's when I was going through my "wondernine " phase. The slide is inset into the rails like a CZ75, so yeah... these comparisons are valid. My 30M was accurate with ball ammo and pleasant to shoot, but overall the pistol weighed a ton due to its all steel frame. Fit and finish were acceptable. Back in the day, mags were about $25 each. I ended up selling it and getting a CZ75... superior fit and finish, it held the same number of rounds, and overall ergonomics were better in my hand. I thought this was worth the $50 or so difference in price. Also, magazines seemed to be more readily available.
