    Update: Assistant chief says guy flashed a gun in a bank manager's office, and claimed he had a bomb in his backpack. Demanded $20k. Manager walked over to the teller line, and the panic button was pressed. Perp left the bank (sans loot), went around back into the alley behind the bank, where he was confronted by a MoCo cop. Confrontation got more serious, perp got Stupid Prize, reached room temp at the hospital. EOD folks are currently working to disable his backpack, which is probably just a backpack ... but lots of push-back-from-the-perimeter action until they can be sure.

    The poor perp...probably just some poor schmuck affected by the gov't shutdown gone crazy trying to get money to keep from starving. All the main Lefty Loons will be at his funeral in a show of solidarity. The story will get spun in some similar fashion.
