Question for you, I know I am supposed to put an entry in my bound book within 24hrs of getting a new C&R firearm. What about if I was, say, on a trip somewhere and picked one up? Do you figure just enter it as soon as you get home, or take your bound book with you?

I figure it may never happen that I am, say, traveling through NC and stop in somewhere and find something I want and be days away from home. A friend counseled me to keep a copy of my C&R in my glove box though because you never know when you might find something you want out of state (seems sound advice). I can’t really have a copy of my bound book and I don’t really want to drive around with that all the time.

I'd refer to the info from BATF sent to you with your license for a definitive answer, if any, but I've done the same and never worried about the C & R police making sure the entry is in my book within 24 hrs. I've never heard of anyone carrying his/her bound book with them at all times in case of a spontaneous purchase

And yes, it's always a good idea to have a copy of your license in your wallet for that reason.
