From USA Today article today on The Katz kid who snapped in J’ville. I’m going to send her a quick note.

‘’"If Maryland allowed law enforcement discretion when issuing handgun licenses, they might have been able to prevent this individual from buying a handgun based on his psychiatric record if they believed that he would not be someone who would use a gun safely," said Allison Anderman, managing attorney for the Giffords Law Center.’’

WTF Maryland give the MSP all the damn discretion it needs and then some, some would say they need some of the discretion removed.

There’s honestly some reasonable quotes in there from others. Noting that he didn’t slip thru any cracks, properly points out MD law, and there’s even stuff from Webster that makes light of what many of us have said — further stigmatizing people who are violent will lead to less people seeking treatment.

We have seen how Maryland State Police use "Discretion" in how they issue CCW permits. They need less discretion not more because they have proven they can't be trusted to follow the United States Constitution.:mad54:

I don't get where he is making light of it. Unless I'm obtuse and the "good and services" comment is meant to be a sarcastic reference to buying a firearm.

And I'm not a real fan of JH and their "research" obviously.

I think you both agree, as do I, that Webster used the same argument many have here.

Not trying to nit pick, but just to clarify - I believe DC-W misused the phrase 'make light of', which means to ridicule or make fun of someone else's position or statement.

He may have meant to say that Webster brought additional awareness to our position.

That’s what I meant. Forgive my fogginess
