Saw this on Armslist and met the guy today. Barrel cap and receiver match but magazine is a different number. Stock hadn't been sanded but I think it was cleaned due to the varying darkness of the stock. Bore is very clean. Has a small rack number painted on the stock and a SA stamp in the stock.

Negotiated price $225. I think I did good.

That’s a great price and it looks sweet. I think the x means sold out of service at the end of its useful military life ( if i am wrong someone will correct me). Like any surplus bolt rifle, take a moment to check the head space. Or better, have a smith look it over.

Congrats! I grabbed one about 7-8 yrs ago when I noticed prices on them starting to rise at the same time that supply was drying up. Think I paid what you did in devalued 2018 dollars so you got a good buy. Now we need to find you an older, pre-WW2 Ishapore SMLE. Back when the British managed Indian arsenals and the build quality was on par with what was coming out of the UK and Australia. Love 'em.

I don't have a big love of the Enfield myself, or at least I didn't before now. What has always drawn me to the 2A1 was that it was in a NATO caliber.

Likewise. Neat history being the last standard issue bolt-action rifle too.
Planning to snap one up some day for sure.
