Checked another German pistol off my bucket list, thanks to a kind member on another forum who responded to a WTB add I had posted a while back. This one got lost in shipping delays for 11 days so I was starting to get worried, but thankfully It showed up today.

This is a very late war CZ-38 (9mm kurz / .380) assembled under German control from either leftover or rejected pre-war CZ-38 parts. As all regular Czech CZ-38 production had been completed prior to the German occupation, just about all of the guns do not have German markings...the exception being these late war guns, which are marked with the WaA76 waffenamt on the frame and barrel, as well as a reichsadler firing proof on the barrel as well. They appear with a mix of finishes...blued, thin phosphate, in the white, and a mix of all of the above. This one appears to have thin bluing on the slide while all other parts (including the mag) are either in the white or had a very thin phosphate. This one is definitely rough just like I was hoping for...nice machine marks on the slide, etc. Per Jan Stills’ “Axis Pistols”, about 1000 pistols were assembled in this fashion, but most did not have serial numbers (like this one) so hard to know for sure just how many there are.

Now that is one very rare beast. You rarely see them. I didn't realize they didn't have S/N's, the few I've seen had 'em.
    Very super cool !!
I can see why you got anxious with the USPS purgatory.

If you're excited about it then I know it's special. Another lesson learned. Had no clue these last ditch CZs existed. One of those rare examples where rough and poorly machined are a plus. I'd bet the survival rate is extremely low.
