Boy the VA dems sure popped a handful of viagra before this session. They aren't just going after half the remaining cake... they want the whole thing... and the plate... and the milk in the fridge.

They're paying back Bloomberg for all the money he spent getting them elected.

It is just my opinion, but I think this is part of the Left (Dems?) long game. It will make justifying/have one national carry permit, must less open carry that much harder.

Isn't all this just like Trumps Art of the Deal tactics? Demand it ALL so when you get a few of the things you were after it's considered a win by both sides? I know all the gun control is BS but many many people think and say, "that's not so bad, Is it?" Before they were going to BAN the evil assault weapons, but now you can keep them as long as they are registered. or whatever crap they end up passing.

I have always tried to be an open minded individual. But a death by a thousand cuts is still a death. That is why I really don't support anymore gun control legislation. In every know civilized society, Murder is the highest and most severely punished crime. It doesn't care by what means it was carried out by, and some places like my home state you will pay with your life. If that is not an incentive not to commit it, when is doesn't matter what you do. So let me at least have a chance not to be killed by some evil person. Me and my God can have the discussion later if it was right or not.

It's following the nationwide trend. We have gone from "nobody wants to take your AR-15" to "be happy with your flintlock, peasant".

this bill will hurt virginians also. other states have recip only with states that honor their permits. just extending their all-out assault on guns and law-abiding gun owners.

from what i saw on virginia's legislative website, the above are emails for the committee involved in this carry permit bill. this should be easy to cut and paste to your email program to let them know you disagree with them changing our carry permit laws. i basically told them that folks that apply for carry permits are the good guys, undergoing background checks and the like, and we should leave them alone and go after actual violent criminals. i also told them this hurts their own virginia residents as it will limit where we can carry elsewhere as other states allow reciprocity if the home state allows it.

This is only the beginning. Just wait until they change their permitting scheme from SHALL to MAY issue. Yes, they are trying to provocte a confrontation...But even if they fail at that, they win. Once all of these bills pass and are signed by Coon Man, the guns that are banned become essentially useless. You cannot take them out of your home unless it's to turn them in or take them out of state. You cannot shoot them on your own property and if you use one of them to defend your property of family you will go to jail for having one...Yet the leadership of the 2A groups down there are playing by the same rules and trying the same tactics that have failed in every dark blue state in the country. Sure, once blackface signs them they will be challenged in court...but it will take years to get a final ruling and know one knows if they will side with gun owners. How many people will be victims of these new "laws?"while we wait for the court to make up their minds? ..

Honestly, I can easily see some of the good ol boys from southwest Virginia telling Ed Levine and the rest of these "pro gun" groups to either take a REAL stand or get the hell out of the way. I have cousins in Staunton and Martinsville who have had just about enough of these do nothing tactics. I foresee other groups taking these matters into their own hands if VCDL is not successful....(they won't be)

the bottom line is this..Virginia is very new to being forced to defend their 2A rights. I don't know if they completely understand that they will need to do this nearly continuously until the Republicans have the majority in at least one side of the legislature or in the state house. This is a census year. The Democrats get to redraw the election districts so that might not happen for a long time, if ever. If they continue to use the same stale, failed techniques that do not work they will be stuck with some of the most tyrannical anti gun laws in the country.

    This isn't a Virginia issue...this is a national issue...

They are provoking a reaction. When Republicans get into office they need to go just as far with the golden calfs of the Democrat party.

that's the problem, they never do.

The republicans are a bunch of scared little pussies, that care what the democrats think of them.

That's what makes the democrats so great, they give no ****s about what they do to republican polices, folks, procedures, yet somehow still manage to get just enough republicans to care about being "fair" to get what the democrats want, even when they aren't in power.

Likely, because the republicans are scared shitless of what the liberal wing will do to their public image/credibility if they don't capitulate to their demands. Look what they did to Susan Collins for example for her vote on Kavanaugh and jeff flake for his vote.

Look what the democrat controlled virginia is doing vs when the gop had control of all 3 federal houses and did nothing...

To be fair, Susan Collins and Jeff Flake are nothing more than centrist democrats that couldn't get elected in their state unless they ran as a Republican. Once in office, their true colors have come out. The issue isn't really Republicans are spineless and democrats are anti American...the issue is that MOST are professional politicians. The thing they are most afraid of is losing their seat in whatever government entity they are a member of. Many don't truly give a rat's ass about anything EXCEPT remaining in office...That's why government was never suppose to be a career. Most of this mess could be fixed with REAL term limits at all level of government but because of what I just wrote above, it's unlikely to ever happen unless the people get fed up and really force it to...and that will require the 2nd amendment..
