My brother hit the jackpot, again. Picked these up from an estate. All in amazing condition, with boxes. The Model 40 was bought new in 1964. I think the rest are around the same vintage. Would love to have date and price info on these from the experts!

Those are some prime S&W's.. Stop by the smith-wesson ( dot) com , and share the pics, and get scoop on shipping dates and values.

Are the Centinial and Chief Special marked with actual model #'s , or are they " pre- " ?

All three have serial numbers on bottom of grip frame.

But do they also have a Model number stamped on the frame, where the yoke opens for the cylinder to swing out ? Lack of Model number will place the gun pre-1957. A Dash 1 or whatever ( dash number in S&W collector speak) will give a broad year range.

They are three screw guns, so that would be post-62 or whatever. The flat latch was also dropped at some point in the 60s, with a few variations of them during production, so it's another feature that can be used to narrow down a date.

Just throwing this out there if your brother would rather have $650 in cold hard cash I'd be VERY VERY interested in the centennial that offer is if all original.

I'd bump it to $700 if he dropped it off at my FFL in hyatsville MD
