Sure. When I was younger we bought and sold handguns all the time with no government interference. I'm not sure when the laws changed.

The Maryland Gun satety Act of 1996 required the recordation of secondary sales. It became law on Oct 1, 1996

So before that date FTF,no paper work,no back ground check, etc. it was legal ?

Not doubting you, just trying to understand/confirm.I just always remember growing up and my father talking about "cool-off" period.

I do remember him giving a 1911 to his friend for work, but never thought about it.When I started buying my own (88-89),it was always long-guns and by the time I purchased my first handgun, the current rules applied.

Yes FTF was fine then but you still had to wait at the shops .

Would these years and rules have also applied to AR and AK sales? Crazy to imagine that at one time not long ago Marylanders could do FTF handgun sales and riots didn't break out with chaos ensuing. If you could do FTF handgun sales I'm assuming that AR and AK type FTF sales were ok too. Just wondering if it might ever be that way again. I hope but kind of doubt it.
