What started out as a range trip to try out new Hogue grips on my SP101 .357 turned out to be a fun trip with multiple firearms chambered in .357 mag. I decided to take my Marlin 1894 .357 and my Ruger 77/357 along with the SP101. These are probably my favorite firearms to shoot with the exception of the SP101. Pleasant recoil, accurate, fun, well-made guns. Luckily I reload so not too expensive to shoot even with the current ammo situation. The new grip definitely help the SP101 in terms of grip and felt recoil but still not real pleasant like the rifles. I may take the pistol out more often now that it's got the new grip although if I'm going to burn up my 38/357 ammo I prefer to do it with the rifles.

I just got an sp101 (same model). I started out with 38spl and when I shot a few 357 mag I was like "woah. That's frickin powerful. I think I'll shoot a few more 38 spl" By the end of the day I preferred shooting the 357. The shockwave to the face is what it's all about! Awesome gun.

i put Hogue grips on my SP101 a few years ago. For me it made a significant difference in control over the original grips.

I generally shoot 38spl for practice and 38spl+P for self-defense. I occasionally shoot 357mag but I'm not very accurate with it.

I've been thinking about grips like those on my 6 inch Python. The gun won't look as nice but it might be more comfortable when shooting .357. It's a bit much with the factory wood grips.

    Behind enemy lines...
I have the Hogue's on my S&W Model 14 .38 Spl. and on my Ruger GP100 4" .357. The Ruger came with the Hogue's. Nice touch.

Gotta say that even with the 'Heavy' Ruger, I only want to fire about 10 .357 rnds. at the range. "OUCH". The rest I fire are .38 Spl.

Nice looking pistols. Glad it's not just me that's not happy putting a box of .357 through one of these! The Hogue grip is a big improvement over the factory grips though. For as heavy as this gun is, it really let's you know when you pill the trigger.
