First shot was self defense, the next four were for practice. Hey, we all struggle to get in some range time!

This is also a good reason not to go to Popeyes, Wafflehouse etc.

    Why is it always Popeyes?

The criminal class always - ALWAYS - starts to play the victim as soon as they're caught. "Why you gotta be like that?" or "We ain't hurtin' nothing" when you catch them looking in your car or sneaking a peek in the front door. His mom knew he was a bum, and she's covering for him as best she can.

    lets try again...

5 shots of .09 MM is exactly the same stopping power as ONE shot of 45 caliber 1911. the 7 round mag of a 1911 is like a 35 round super size Glock-brand-GLOCK .09 MM.

Moral of the story, get a 45.

Having OCD, I prefer even numbers. Should have been 6.

So you prefer the Detective Special over the Chief's Special?

TV portrays guns as magic death rays. They always do exactly what the scriptwriters want them to do, every time. One shot clean kill, "a mere flesh wound," or multiple, seemingly ineffective hits raising the dramatic tension: whatever the scriptwriter wants.

Then people expect reality to behave the same way.

Five times sounds about right. That leaves about 10 rounds left in case one of the perp's buddies comes running in the door.

Though generally I would prefer .45, though to be frank most of my HD guns are 9mm just because they are the guns I am most proficient with and am betting on training and repetition.

9mm with good quality home defense rounds should be more than sufficient. If I had 5 .45 I would use 5 of them with a few in reserve.

Because he couldn't remember exactly how many times he shot, 5, 6, less, more, just that he was stopping the armed threat. I'm sure the Popeye's Chicken employee wasn't seeking to shoot someone at work, while it sounds like Mr. Herrera's mom has been making excuses for her son's behavior for quite some time. He threatened both customers and then employees in the store.

Maybe that's all the bullets they had ...............................

I figure 5 for the robber and left a couple in case the robber’s buddy was coming through the door in a second and he thought he might not have time to reload.

Because he was using a 0.9 MM. Obviously.

Now if he had been using a 10MM, he'd only have to shoot him once.

Of course duh it would take like 10 of those new fangled 0.9mm boolits to equal one 9mm boolit

    Must have been using a .380acp . ( Humor )

But seriously , the Good Guy was presumably shooting until the Threat ended .

Mr Huerra precipitated and initiated his own demise . Armed Robbery in Free America , particularly Texas , frequently results in bad consequences for the robbers .
