Haven't seen any advertising or anything on one of these yet.
I'm liking this as one of my near future purchases.

Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander in 9mm.

Gunbroker has one for starting bid of $779, but I wonder what the real world pricing will be?

I've only seen the MSRP of $979 on Ruger site. And I'm with you as far as next purchase possibility.

    Hey! DePuke yourself....lol.

    I already have an SR1911, 5" barrel, .45acp...:party29:

What's wrong with multiple Ruger SR1911's??

And ironically, I just got an email from Ruger Firearms, highlighting this very gun...how does that happen? :tinfoil2:

    I'll tell you how...........SKYNET!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with it in my opinion especially if you have a full size in 45 acp.

I say go for it when the newness "price " levels off. I have a DW PM9 and it complements my 45s very nicely. Cheaper to shoot and easier on me.

9 mm 1911 is sweet to shoot. Less espensive and 10 round mags are available that are not extended. Same equipment and most other parts as 45 subspecies.
Less recoil than the 45. It is same as shooting far more expensive midrange ammo in the 45 if you don't reload and the slide speed stays up for feeding reliability. And that is with 115 grain ball ammo.

I looked for a 1911 9mm for a long time before finding my Springfield Armory "Loaded" in 9mm. I've had it for several years now and not a single hiccup. It's reliable, accurate, and a lot of fun to shoot. Those who dislike the 1911 in 9mm probably just have a dislike for 9mm in general. To each his own I guess.

Not a fan of 9mm 1911s. It's like drinking lite beer.

    Mislabeled light beer...

    The 1911 Pistol...

So designated because of a contract accepted by the USARMY for a pistol, designed by JM Browning, produced and submitted by Colt in caliber .45ACP... IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 1911. The final design which was accepted in 1911, was made in 1910.

    NOT 9mm... :nono:

    Forty frikkin FIVE CALIBER

Do we call all AR-15s "M16"s??? NO...

So why do we mislabel a JMB designed pistol in any caliber other that .45, a "1911"???

    [/rant]

I really liked the sr1911, but I'm such a fan of 9mm that this seems like a no brainer.
