    Good day!
    I have been using hodgdon universal for my 45 auto reloading, but now that there seems to be a run on powders;
    I could use a couple of alternatives to shop for
    suggestions welcome

    I've loaded hundreds of 45acp rounds and found Bullseye is best for both target and SD loads. Clays is also excellent for target loads. If you can't find those, I've also had good success with Unique and Herco.

    It's not the most popular, but I use Longshot under a 230 LRN bullet. That's mainly because I have a bunch of it and I get good consistent loads. May not be any easier to find right now but I wouldn't pass it up if it was available.

    For .45acp, I use Power Pistol, W231, 700-X, Bullseye, Ramshot Competition, and N310 in general order of slowest to fastest burning according to Hodgdon's burn rate chart of 2019. Their positions in other charts may differ, FWIW. 700-X works well if you're weighing each charge or using Lee dippers.

    They had a bunch of Universal at Redding HW in Gettysburg, PA on Saturday. Might want to call them.

    .45acp is very versatile , in that it works well with a very wide range of powders from the fastest up to medium slow . The challenge would be to find a powder faster than Blue Dot that doesn't work acceptably well for .45acp .

    basically this. I generally choose powders for picky ammo or my favorite bulk loads, but most powders work in 45. I just use bullseye and power pistol because I have a ton of it, but after it's gone will probably just load most everything with CFE pistol, hot magnum auto cals with longshot and hot revolver cals with H110(have it anyway for 300BO) I have used CFE pistol in probably a dozen calibers and it works well in just about everything for a mid-power load, also has been consistently available most places over the last year.

    I have loaded .45 ACP with Bullseye, Unique, WW231, and Clays.

    But you can use most of the faster pistol powders for it. The round is very tolerant of powders.

    You can't use H110 in 45 acp can you?
    What about 4227?
