The word around the camp fire is that the NRA helped write the RI 80% ban. Does anyone know if this is true?

I doubt it’s true. People trying to shit stir.

You doubt it true that the NRA is negotiating away your rights and abusing membership funds?

where should we start....cuz its a very long list.....

NRA was involved in the closing/defunding of the MG registry

NRA was involved in the assault weapons ban

NRA dragged their feet on Heller.......and actually OPPOSED it and tried to get the case derailed......they only got on board at the last minute when it was unstoppable and they didnt want to be seen as on the wrong side

On Friday, NRA posted the lengthy list of conditions for a process it can support on its YouTube channel, as a commentbeneath the Cox video. Among them:

    — Criminal penalties for those who bring “false or frivolous” charges.

    — A determination by a judge, by “clear and convincing evidence,” that the person poses a significant risk of danger.

    — A requirement that a judge determine whether the person meets the standard for involuntary commitment.

    — If the order is granted, the individual should receive community-based mental health treatment.

“To be effective and constitutional, they should have strong due process protections and require that the person get treatment,” Cox says in the video.

NRA doesnt give a crap about due process.....they've got no problem with showing up at your door to confiscate your private property without you first having an opportunity to face your accuser and the charges.

DUE PROCESS comes BEFORE the punishment....NOT AFTER

Back around 2006-2008 the NRA actually OPPOSED a solidly pro gun Md candidate to the house who was an incumbent......to support a no name with no track record.....Norton or others will probably recall the name of the candidate

A bunch of states have had the NRA ILA come in and threaten senators and reps with negative NRA rating if they didnt do their bidding/include language in their bills

We had an issue up here with this wrt a number of bills including constitutional carry which took us a number of attempts to get signed into law.....NRA fought it tooth and nail.....northern new england now has a pretty solid ILA rep.....our previous one....Hohenwarter was a POS......but nonetheless its the NRA and they ultimately dont want to DEFEAT gun control.....they want to MANAGE it so the money keeps rolling in

That’s the whole strategy for NRA

Lying bastards just want to keep the “game afoot” so as NOT TO DERAIL THE MONEY TRAIN.

They are the biggest racket around. Unfortunately, many gun clubs require NRA membership before they’ll allow you to be a member of their club.

Stupid is as stupid does. NRA is a false flag operation in my opinion. YMMV

The fact that they have endorsed hundreds of so called pro 2nd amendment democrats and watched as nearly every one of them turned out to be anti gun should be enough...the NRA is not your friend. They have an agenda and I've been saying it for years...

If the NRA were ever actually successful in having gun control laws all repealed, then the NRA would not be needed to advocate for gun owners..they would be just another shooting club holding firearms training ...So they make sure that gun control exists so they can continue to bring in the $$$

They rate every candidate in every race. If you've got four Dems in a primary running to be that party's congressional candidate in a given district, ONE of them is likely to be at least marginally less insanely gun-grabby than the other three. The NRA will point out which one presents as less immediately, overtly infringey than the others. That's not an "endorsement" in any normal sense of that word.

In the real world, elections come down to candidates that make it through all of the party machinations and get in front of voters on hundreds of issues, not just 2A. Would you rather that pro-gun groups simply remain silent on which candidate is potentially less harmful than the next? The organization has forever taken every election as an opportunity to score candidates on their hostility to the 2A. Saying, "of the candidates you get to pick from, this one is less horrible than the others" is a reflection of real life.

You're making excuses for them. They don't have to nor should they ever endorse a Democrat... democrats are the enemy..

I have a life membership, but I won’t send them another cent until they get their act together.

    Up the game a notch

Send them a copy of a printed/cancelled check.....with your bank/routing number obscured.....that shows you donating to GOA and/or SAF........and tell them that you WOULD have given it to the NRA except for their corrupt anti liberty practices....and wayne's wardrobe of course

If each and every one of us did this every time we donated to another org then the NRA would get the me$$age loud and clear

You're deliberately not getting this. They score every politician. If they score four democrats as "F", "F", "F", and "C" they aren't "endorsing" the one with the "C" just because that one is somewhat less toxic than the others. There's plenty of bones to pick with this or that aspect of the NRA (or the NRA-ILA, which is a different entity, or the NRA-PVF which is yet another, different entity - all three of which operate on separate books, raise and spend money in different ways and comment or don't on campaigns and candidates in different ways or not at all for legal reasons), but deliberate misreporting straight up rankings as "endorsements" isn't an honest observation.
