He won't have the votes to do anything other than throw a tantrum in Virginia. I still hope he is defeated though.

    This....
We're considering returning to VA after both my wife and I left in 90 (the last time). HIs election will be the deciding factor whether to strike VA off the list of states or not.

As much as I support the Libertarian Party, the two party system prevents any real reform. If he wins, it won't be becuase he got the most votes!

Hate to break it to you but if the Dem candidate wins it won't be due to Sarvis

Bet you didn't even know the Libertarian candidates name..........

IF Cucinelli loses it will be due to the fact that he's a poor candidate.....not because of the libertarian party or because McAuliffe is a good candidate......he's just slightly less bad to his base than Cucinelli is to his base

Agree to disagree (And I have no idea what that link was supposed to illustrate. On a purely +/- basis, when Cucinelli increases, Sarvis decreases and vice versa. The magnitudes don't match but the directions were opposite in every poll except one. The biggest change from poll to poll was in the # of undecideds.).

Many of Sarvis' votes would go to Cucinelli if Cucinelli didn't take unpalatable stands on social issues. I'm a hardcore libertarian and I'll be the first to admit that libertarians do not typically poll at 8-10%. Every election is unique, but Cucinelli has dug himself quite a hole on a few issues. If he loses, Sarvis is the protest vote for the GOP base to send a message to the VA GOP to move to the left on civil rights and personal freedom so as not to be hypocrites.

Sarvis isn't the determinative factor if Cucinelli loses, but he certainly draws votes away. I agree with Sarvis much more on many issues, but will vote for Ken, because Terry is thousands of times worse. Unfortunately NoVa's liberal base continues to grow. McAuliffe, has a high probability of winning, and while the General Assembly down in Richmond can forestall a lot of his plans, certainly the gun control plans, I fear it's only a matter of time until the Commonwealth turns as blue as MD due to NoVa and gerrymandering.

Sorry, but "Agree to Disagree" is a ******** cop out when your argument doesn't hold water.

    1. You fail to comprehend the simple fact that Cucinelli is a bad candidate.

    2. You assume that the ~8% of folks in polls that support Sarvis would touch Cucinelli with a 10' pole

Your entire argument is predicated upon the assertion that everyone will choose between the 6" crap sandwich and the footlong crap sandwich.......and the introduction of a juicy hamburger onto the menu is spoiling the sales of crap sandwiches.......the simple fact of the matter is that there are a lot of people that won't choose a crap sandwich no matter how big it is or how many condiments you put on it.......

The argument that everyone will vote for one party or the other is bunk......the 2012 POTUS/VP election is the most recent example of this........when are you people going to realize this?

He'a been backed by Bloomberg money from the beginning. I'm glad that at least he is coming out and saying he is against 2A. Unfortunately, the way VA is districted, southern and western VA will have no say in the matter. VA will eventually become what MD is now. They just need to slowly acquire the needed liberal delegation. May not happen in the next gubernatorial term, but unfortunately it will happen.

I agree 110% as NOVA is way too close to DC and The People's Republic of maryland. I've scratched Virginia off my list to move to tho I love the SW area of the state. I want at least one state between where I move to and maryland as a cushion from the socialistic plaque that's here and that's bound to spread out.

He's going to win, and he's going to get his gun law. And I'm gonna have to find another state to move to now...

Gun control is essentially unstoppable at this point. We will never have another victory again. Ever.

All is lost. The only future any of us has is to be a criminal. So get used to it.

MOM asking marylander's to donate for TERRY. Here is the email that was forwarded to me this morning.

Congress is failing to take meaningful action to keep our communities safe from gun violence, so it's increasingly up to individual states to make progress.

Earlier this year, Maryland passed one of the toughest laws in the nation to reduce gun violence. Even though pro-gun groups are suing us to try to stop it, the law goes into effect tomorrow, and it will make families safer.

But it's still far too easy for criminals and the dangerously mentally ill to buy guns in Virginia and bring them across the border into our state. In 2012, almost 10% of all guns recovered by Maryland police came from Virginia.

Despite this problem, elected officials like Ken Cuccinelli, who's running for governor in Virginia, are working to weaken that state's gun laws even more. Worse yet, he would be in a position to do even more damage as governor.

With a month to go before Election Day we can stop Ken Cuccinelli today. Please join me by contributing $10 to Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe's campaign.

The polls show a close race. Just the other day, the Washington post reported only a five-point margin for McAuliffe.

I hope you'll join me in contributing to his campaign. It's important.

    All the best,

    Martin O'Malley
