Two friends and I went today. There were several reloading vendors set up. Watch the prices. The first vendor had CCI Magnum Rifle primers for $45 and further back we saw the exact primers for $32! Also saw an 80% AR lower for $50 toward the front and 3/4 of the way back the exact lower was $42. Caveat emptor.
I did manage to purchase a Savage 99 (made in 1926) in 300 Savage as a take down model with counter for a little over $650. Not a great buy but they don't make them like that now and if they did it would probably cost over $1200, just for the machining that goes into the receiver. Had a great day enjoyed the show and the comradeship.

If I had gun money, there was one or two milsurps I would have picked up. We got a couple mags and a little bit of ammo. One vendor I wanted to talk to about his wooden AR hand guard insert dealios, and he was too "busy" talking to one guy for a long time to even acknowledge me. I even came back a second time. I guess he didn't want to sell anything. The lady we buy a lot of ammo from was there, but there was nothing we needed that she had , which would have been some specific military calibers. Heading up there beat cleaning the house before Christmas.

Brian, those P89 mags I got from you seem to work fine!

Great! I still have a few more if you need them.

This was probably the first time I'd been to a Harrisburg show in about 10 years. My dad and I used to go, but, for some reason, never really found anything we wanted  The last time we went, parking was offsite and we had to ride a shuttle bus :wtf: That was a big turn off.

Today...well...I was supposed to be doing 3gun at AGC, but the weather prevented that. Katie actually suggested we might want to go to the show...or stay home and clean up the place. Hmmm...tough call.

At first, I thought it was pretty stupid that an event location that big was only using one small entrance and exit...and the line to get in had to switch back on itself, and break to let people out. I was thinking that this kind of crap, along with $11  admission was why I hadn't been to a show here in a decade. But...I guess it was still better than housecleaning :tap:

Neither of us really had gun money to spend. If we did, there certainly were opportunities. We saw one of the new new Ruger carbines, with the PPSH looking forend AND the AR buttstock. I don't remember the price for sure, but I think it started with a 6, so it didn't come home with us. Someday... We also saw three Security Sixes, in the $500 price range. That was really tempting...but  just not feasible right now.

We bought some mags (because I never like to come back from America without a few), and that was really about it. I am bummed that I didn't buy the huge ammo box for $25 right away, and missed out. It was like the 40mm ones (that the lid comes of and doesn't hinge), but at least twice as big. I also forgot to go back for 1 of the 2 cans of Varget I saw.:o

There were probably more knife vendors than I've ever seen at a show, but there were still a lot of guns.

I feel like the milsurp prices (at least the ones I am familiar with) were a little high...but they have been for a while, so that just may be where the market is now. (Or, I've just gotten really good deals in the past :D )

    Overall...meh  It wasn't Oaks...but it wasn't housecleaning either.;)

Not a bad buy on the savage as long as it isnt tapped or scope. They used to be cheap now closer to $800 is the norm for the more common calibers and $1200+ for scarce things.

I just returned from the show. I considered it worth the trip as I picked up a bag full of mags. If I was looking for guns, I would have been really pissed. For one, only half the building was occupied and two, the prices were outrageous at the very least. Sure there was a buy here or there but overall the prices were extremely inflated.

There were some powder deals if you were going to buy a few pounds. Prices for powder were about $4 to $6 a pound cheaper than Bass Pro. Primers at one table were $45 a brick and at another $34. Too many knives and Chinese knock offs. The AR Chinese knockoff market must be going through the roof these days. I would be afraid to by rails sights and other furniture second hand due to the possibility of getting junk.

There was a super powder deal as I guy was selling BE86 powder for $18 a pound. This would be great for Bullseye and light target load shooters.

In hind sight, I probably should have expected a small show as Oaks show is coming up down the road.

Nope not scoped nor tapped. I passed on several that had that 'problem'. Savage did make factory drilled and tapped 99's but they moved the logo when they did that. Unless it's one of those i shoot it with iron sights.
