Wondering if anyone has experience with the latest version of the Diamondback DB9. I had my old one, which was never reliable, replaced once when the company was owned by the previous owners (who believed in poor quality control). I am expecting to pick up a brand new DB9 that was replaced by the new company owners and thought I'd ask about what to expect? Is it reliable? Any particular issues? Thanks!

Thanks much for this. The review looks good; I'm hoping the third time will be a charm. I wasn't willing to sell my old edition of the DB9, since it was so unreliable and I wasn't going to pass on my headache to someone else. Here's hoping this one works. It is the smallest 9mm, overall, I am aware of. As much as I love my G43, the DB9 is easier to pocket-carry.

I don't think there is anything in that size range any cheaper that's for sure. It's even cheaper than the Kel Tec PF9 which really surprised me.

It's not even, necessarily, the cost; the G43 is almost double the price. It's the size and, of course, the reliability. If it doesn't always go bang, who wants to carry it?

I received my replacement, 4th-gen DB9 and have been to the range. It seems to be reliable (no stoppages in about 40 rounds of various ammo, including FMJ and HP. The trigger is creepy, with a long pull; significant effort is required to avoid dropping the muzzle. As any gun this size can be expected to do, recoil wallops the hand pretty hard, and it's no fun to shoot. The main drawback, of course, is it tends to discourage practice.

At the same time, my copy is dead-on accurate at up to 10 yards (any farther in a real-life encounter, I am running for sure, always my first choice at any distance). Overall, not bad for the price. I may carry this instead of my LCP in dress pants, since it is only marginally bigger.

Get some of the low recoil ammo made for micro guns. It makes a difference in muzzle flip.

Make sure you test it thoroughly with that reduced recoil ammo. I'm always concerned with it having enough energy to cycle the action in a semi auto.

They don't cycle properly with any ammo. I have one a few years old it never was reliable at all.

When I complained, they told me I didn't know how to shoot it and my technique (limp wrist I guess) was bad. Completely denied the gun was at fault.

So is it me, the ammo, or the gun? It's a shame I'd like to make it work.

Roger that. Wouldn’t carry it without at least one box through it with no hiccups. Thanks.

Hey Mac1_131, I didn't realize I hadn't mentioned it before, but contact DB to have them send a brand new, 3rd gen(?) gun as a replacement. The company was bought out last year. My early, defective, gun was exchanged (they ship to your FFL, standard MD transfer rules apply). As I have described above, my new DB9 works well, with no reliability issues; I now carry it in place of my LCP. Best of luck.
