My experience is that you can get better accuracy with 120/130 grain jacketed bullets. The thing is, they cost more too. Using lead bullets may open up your groups but it makes for more trigger time.

For sure, I loaded up a bunch of cast loads after hearing that satisfying ping on a 6" steel target at 100 yards at a standing position. I'm curious how soft of a lead alloy I can get away with. I am currently running water quenched lyman #2 alloy with these casts.
I got a hold of range scrap alloy with BHN of 9-10 for the wonderful price of free. I made a bit of powder coated and gas checked bullets to load up. Started off with 10 and see how they fly...probably not that great.
The only problem I have found with lead that is too soft is the violent transition from magazine to chamber. Softer lead, even if PC'd tends to get damage of one type or the other as it goes into the chamber. Other than that, I have shot soft lead PC's in my 30-06 bolt gun to 2600FPS with no issues and excellent accuracy.

Good to know, Ill take the same round and run it out of a 7.62x39 bolt action and see how that goes.
I should have clarified that I meant subsonic heavy bullets.
I'm really starting to think that something like a 350 legend would be better for subsonic AR15 stuff.

I can't really speak for subsonic casts just yet. During my first run, i was using a terribly undersized Lee 309/230 cast bullet without a GC.
Apart from the noticeable gas cutting and terrible design of that bullet (maybe i just had a lemon of a mold), I had a moment where I was fairly hitting the 6" steel target on a bench rest position.
I winded up breaking the mold trying to make it into a plain based bullet without lube grooves. I have a replacement NOE 311/225 PB one on the way and will get back to making subsonics again.

Tested out those range scrap 309/160s. Pings a 6" steel target great at 100yards and chronos around ~1400 fps. For free/salvaged lead casts with a gas check/powder coat investment, I can't complain.
Finally got pics of my subsonic powder coated cast @ 100 yards
Had my target set out at 100 yards to check my Muzzzle loader and shot 5 of my powder coated cast Bullets before putting up steel
10.7” Rainier Arms barrel and home made form 1 suppressor shooting Lee 309-230 mold Powder coated gas checked with 9gr H110
Grouping exceeds my expectations.
For steel
Nice thing is that with my electronic muffs, it’s not so loud that they cut out when I shoot and the sound of the steel is pretty loud to me and noticeable .

The lee 309-230 mold I had undersized casts, even with powder coat on. The engagement surface was undersized that there wasn't enough neck tension to hold the bullet along the case neck even when seating to mag length with a heavy crimp.
I wind up buying a NOE 311-225 mold. I still haven't got to casting them since I moved on and loaded a bunch of lee 311-160 supers. How is your homemade form 1 for 300 blk holding up? I'm interested in doing a form 1 built for my 300 blk in the near future.

Pistol gas will cycle it no problem and the suppressor helps.
